Combat trauma, burns, crush injuries, and complex wounds remain among the most persistent and costly clinical challenges in military medicine. LSU Health Shreveport offers a high-volume, interdisciplinary wound care ecosystem that provides real-world patient populations, surgical integration, and expert-driven care pathways. This clinical platform is ready to support military-focused research, protocol validation, and dual-use solution development.

CLINICAL COLLABORATION OPPORTUNITY

While not a standalone technology, our wound care environment enables immediate clinical 
collaboration in:

  • Wound healing outcomes research
  • Care protocol evaluation and validation
  • Adjunctive device or pharmaceutical testing
  • Tissue salvage and limb preservation strategies
  • Translation of military-relevant care into community settings

  • Integrated access to a Level I Trauma Center and surgical specialists
  • Partnerships with Plastic Surgery, Physical Therapy, and inpatient teams

  • 100% staff pass rate for Certified Wound Specialist (CWS®) exam 

USE SCENARIOS

  • Serve as a clinical testbed for wound-related product development
  • Provide patient access and clinical oversight for DoD-funded studies

  • Co-develop case-based training models for austere and forward care
