ADVANCING MILITARY MEDICINE
Through Academic Partnership

LSU Health Shreveport is an academic medical center serving the ArkLaTex region through education, research,
and patient care. We lead strategic programs that support military health, national readiness, and dual-use
innovation
. Our teams contribute to warfighter health and operational readiness through medical R&D, clinical trials, and programs designed to meet both civilian and defense healthcare needs.

► One of only a few NDMS pilot sites nationwide

With immediate access to Barksdale Air Force Base, regional proximity to Fort Polk, and close proximity to the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center, we are well-positioned to support multi-branch defense health initiatives and VA–DoD collaborations.

Enabling Capabilities
LSU Health Shreveport has established contracting, licensing, and collaboration pathways supported by a proven track record of managing federally aligned research programs. We leverage advanced research capabilities and strong partnerships to deliver cross-disciplinary solutions and operational impact. Recent examples include:

  • Active CRADA with Air Force Global Strike Command
Supporting research on aircrew health and operational performance
  • NDMS-Designated Emergency Response Site
Recognized for surge capacity and coordinated public health response

We actively seek partners to:

  • Advance clinical trials and validation studies in infectious disease, trauma, neurocognition, and rehabilitation
  • Co-develop dual-use diagnostics, devices, and therapeutics for civilian and military use
  • Pursue joint proposals aligned with DoD, VA, and NIH funding priorities
  • Leverage our strategic location near Barksdale AFB, Fort Polk, and Overton Brooks VA Medical Center
