CORE FACILITIES

Our institution is fortunate to have numerous state-of-the-art research core facilities and instrumentation.  These core facilities provide a common resource that can be used by researchers all across the campus. Over the past several years, new equipment has been installed for advanced next-generation genomic sequencing, high precision mass spectrometry for proteomics and metabolomics, advanced super resolution and transmission electron microscopy, and spectral high speed cell sorting. These resources, along with other new advanced technologies, are unique to our region and state, giving LSU Health Shreveport a wide range of research opportunities for studies by our own faculty and through collaboration with others.

RESEARCH CORE FACILITY

The Research Core Facility at LSU Health Shreveport provides investigators, post-doctoral fellows, and graduate and undergraduate students with access to a wide variety of research services, educational and training opportunities, and state-of-the-art technologies. These technologies include cellular metabolism, flow cytometry, laser capture microdissection, mass spectrometry, microarray, fluorescence, confocal, and super resolution confocal microscopy, next generation sequencing, and real-time PCR. The Research Core Facility provides assistance with all aspects of these technologies, including experimental design, protocol optimization, instrument operation and data analysis. Investigators on the LSU Health Shreveport campus, as well as those associated with other campuses, are welcome to utilize any of these technologies on a nominal fee-for-service basis.

COBRE CORE FACILITIES

Center for Redox Biology and Cardiovascular Disease

The Core resources supported by the Center for Redox Biology and Cardiovascular Disease COBRE offer centralized, state-of-the-art, highly specialized laboratory services for project leaders and all faculty at LSU Health Shreveport. The Animal Models Core allows project PIs to test the importance of redox modifications in relevant in vivo models of cardiovascular disease and is comprised of the Histology and Genotyping Sub-Core and the Cardiovascular Phenotyping Sub-Core. The Redox Molecular Signaling Core offers services to facilitate the study of redox regulation of cardiovascular disease and is divided functionally and spatially into two distinct sub-cores: the Analytic Redox Biology Sub-Core and the Molecular Signaling Sub-Core.
