OLYMPUS CSU W1 SPINNING DISK CONFOCAL SYSTEM | Microscopy in Research Core

The Olympus SpinSR is a high-resolution and fast spinning disk confocal system built on an inverted IX83 microscope base, with fully automated objectives, stage, and filter turrets. The microscope is equipped with two cutting-edge sCMOS cameras (Hamamatsu Fusion) for simultaneous acquisition on two channels. The Yokogawa CSU W1 spinning disk unit houses two disks (25  and 50 µm ) to best fit different objectives. The system is connect to a feedback stage-top incubation chamber for CO2, and humidity control.

DESCRIPTION

Capabilities

Fixed and live sample imaging
Bright-field, DIC, and fluorescence imaging
Multipoint acquisition, Multichannel acquisition, Large image scan (image stitching), Z-stack, and 2D/3D deconvolution.

Strength

The Hamamatsu Fusion cameras achieve very low and homogeneous background when images are acquired. This system is specifically designed for fast imaging to capture dynamic biological events in real-time. It is also exceptional for large image scan due to its fast speed. Mean while, the system is loaded with high NA objectives to provide excellent resolution while imaging at fast speed.

ZDC: The Z drift correction function combats focal drift and maintain long term time-lapse focus stability.

Lasers

405nm, 445nm, 488nm, 514nm, 561nm, 640nm

Samples

Confocal optical sectioning is best for samples less than 200 microns thick

Software

CellSens Dimension software in a Windows 10 operating system.
