Research Expansion Project
| Expanding Capacity Amidst Unprecedented Growth

Welcome to the future of LSU Health Shreveport.
LSU Health Shreveport Foundation purchased the former Sears at Mall Saint Vincent in Shreveport, Louisiana with big plans in mind.
Our intention is to transform this wonderful former Sears department store into a state-of-the-art research building that will help us to grow our research, to make new discoveries in both cancer and cardiovascular research, and to ultimately help our citizens in North Louisiana.
Our primary mission:
Improve human health and patient care through research.
Our discoveries, whether it's on the cardiovascular side or on the cancer side, the number one goal is to improve patient care and human health.
LSUHS has reached a critical tipping point where our research ambitions have outpaced our physical footprint. By transforming the former Sears at Mall St. Vincent into 181,000 square feet of adaptive lab space, we can eliminate our greatest barrier to growth and ensure that life-saving innovation never has to wait for room to breathe.

Our Strategic Goals
- Support LSU’s goal to become a Top 50 Research Institution
- Recruit 40 new funded researchers within five years (goal set in 2024)
- Expand and modernize research infrastructure to support continued growth
- Build upon existing excellence in cardiovascular and cancer research
Estimated Project Timeline
